The best times to shop.

Source
Happy Styling Saturdays!!

Today we're discussing the best times to shop for new wardrobe additions and announcing the winner of the Francesca's Collections giveaway!

So let's get started . . .

From the moment I started working at the age of fourteen, I've been an avid shopper.

There's always been something about walking into my favorite clothing stores and seeing all their new arrivals that made my heart happy. It's like a little piece of heaven for me. (I know the real heaven will be so much more amazing).

Being that my first job was in the mall, I knew every clearance, new arrival, and employee discount that would provide me with the optimal shopping experience.

You may think this was simply retail therapy, but it was so much more. Shopping for me was truly an addiction and by the age of sixteen my closet was bursting at the seams.

And that's when intervention happened.

One of my male friends (you know it's bad when a guy notices your shopping problem) said to me one day,

"Jeesh Vonae, you shop a lot. Someone needs to take away your debit-card."

As I considered his comment I knew that would never happen but boy was he right. I had more clothing than I knew what to do with. That's when I decided to sit down and create  a plan for my shopping addiction.

My solution, instead of shopping every single day, I would compromise.

While I couldn't give up shopping entirely, I limited myself to smaller items. Things like clearance jeans that were $7, sandals on sale for $10, and things like that. The point was to avoid major shopping sprees every month.

Nope, those wonderful expenditures would be reduced to four months a year; the tried and proven BEST times to shop.

So when exactly are those times?

Well since I like you, I'll gladly share my little secret.

The absolute best times to shop are as follows:

1. Early in the morning.
I try to make it to stores by 10:00am. Not only is the store close to empty, all the shelves are restocked and neatly organized; not to mention you'll get first picks at clearance pieces.

2. During transitioning of seasons.
This is the time to do your shopping sprees. Right before the seasons change, stores start to overhaul their inventory, marking items off by 30, 50, and 70 percent. Found something you loved for Spring? Wait about two months and it's sure to be on clearance.

3. During inventory purge months which include January, April, July, and September.
During these months stores are pushed to get the old inventory out, which means additional savings for you. This is when you'll find the take an additional 30% off deals.

Did I miss anything?

  4. I'm a professional bargain shopper! Something I've done for many years is buying things on clearance to try projects in mind. For example, I've had this idea of adding my own patches to a sweater. I bought this awesome sweater at banana republic for $5.99 this Sat. Yes. $5.99. I bought it in two colors and one is to try these patches I've had in mind for a while...

    Shop on!

  5. Shopping is my worst habit lol. I try not to buy clothes that are new since the price would be so high, but instead wait until it drops. Also I keep check with my account to see how much I can spare and research stores that are having major sales. Great tips!
